This Privacy Policy explains how Voirelle ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit voirelle.com, take our song quiz, buy from us or contact us (together, the "Services"). "You" means anyone whose information we collect, whether you're a customer, a visitor or someone a song is written for.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: your name and email address, and your phone number if you choose to share it.
- Quiz answers: the details you share to create your song, such as the recipient's name and how to pronounce it, your relationship, the occasion, memories, stories and style choices. These may include information about other people.
- Order details: what you bought, your billing details and payment confirmation. Our payment providers handle your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
- Support messages: anything you send us by email or through the site, including change requests, reviews and reaction videos you choose to send.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we and our partners automatically collect device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location based on your IP, pages viewed, quiz steps completed, and how you interact with our emails. We use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to do this.
Information from partners
We receive information from the companies that help us run Voirelle, such as Shopify, our payment processors, and our advertising and analytics partners.
How we use your information
- To make and deliver your song: writing the lyrics and producing the song from your quiz answers, creating your preview and song page, sending your song, and handling fixes, changes and refunds.
- To talk with you: order and delivery emails, support replies, and, if you've signed up, marketing emails about our songs and offers.
- To improve Voirelle: understanding how people use the site and quiz so we can make better songs and a better experience.
- For advertising: measuring our ads and showing relevant ads, including on social media.
- For safety and the law: preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our Terms, and meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We don't publish your song, your story or the recipient's name publicly without your permission.
How we share your information
We share information only as needed to run Voirelle:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders. Shopify's own privacy policy applies to the data it processes.
- Payment processors, to take payments and issue refunds.
- AI music, lyrics and hosting providers, who process your quiz answers to create, store and deliver your song.
- Email providers, such as Klaviyo, to send order updates and, with your consent, marketing emails.
- Analytics and advertising partners, such as Meta and Google, to measure performance and show relevant ads.
- Legal and safety reasons, when required by law, to respond to legal requests, or to protect our rights, our customers or others.
- Business transfers, if Voirelle is involved in a merger, sale or similar transaction.
We don't sell your personal information for money. Some sharing with advertising partners may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under certain US state laws. You can opt out as described below.
Cookies
We use cookies that the store needs to work (cart, checkout, security), plus analytics and advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but blocking necessary cookies may break the quiz or checkout. For details on the cookies Shopify uses, see shopify.com/legal/cookies.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we'll treat it as a request to opt out of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising on that browser, where the law requires.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including California, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that's wrong
- Delete your information
- Get a copy of your information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, or targeted advertising
- Withdraw consent you've given us
- Appeal if we turn down your request
To make a request, email hey@voirelle.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, for example by checking the email you ordered with. You can use an authorized agent, and we'll ask for proof that they're acting for you. We'll respond within the time the law requires, and we'll never treat you differently for using your rights.
Marketing emails: unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of any marketing email. We'll still send emails about your orders.
Children
Our Services are meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Songs are often written for children, so a parent or guardian may share a child's name or stories in the quiz. We use that information only to create and deliver the song. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep order records as long as needed for our business, tax and legal obligations. We keep your quiz answers and song so your song page keeps working and we can handle fixes and support. You can ask us to delete them at any time. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, and your song page uses a private link. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your song links private if you don't want others to hear the song, and share the listen-only link instead.
International visitors
Voirelle is based in the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information will be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers work.
Other websites
Our site may link to other websites and social platforms. Their own privacy policies apply, and we're not responsible for how they handle your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page with its "Last updated" date.
